BORDERS COMPETITION
WHAT TO DO WITH AN UGLY WALL
In 2021, The School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape at the University of Calgary hosted a design competition entitled the CBDX: B(OR)DERL(AND)S. The competition asked “how designers can intervene in borders”. Our entry, entitled What To Do With An Ugly Wall, was based on the border wall between the West Bank in the Palestinian Territories and the state of Israel. We solution consisted of building apartments on either side of the wall to facilitate interfaith dialogue between the Israeli and Palestinian neighbours.
